Are at home laser hair removal units as effective as the professional hair removal services?

At home laser hair removal units are little versions of their bigger cousins that are present in the hair removal clinics. They perform the same functions and display the same effectiveness in results that a professional procedure could give. The reason many people feel skeptical about the effectiveness of home laser hair removal units is because it is hard to accept the fact that they can get the job done in just a few hundred dollars, while the professionals charge several hundreds for the same work. It is only recently that the technology has improved to a level where it can provide these units at a cheap price. The professionals are yet to realize this fact and adjust their prices and looking at the increasing popularity of these units, it would not be long before this price correction happens. According to survey numbers, home laser unit usage has increased from 2% to 6% in just three months. This is a significant jump in numbers considering the short duration of three months. The number of manufacturers offering the home units has jumped from just two to seventeen at the last count. The users now not only have the choice of getting the laser procedure done from the comforts of their homes, they also have the advantage of many competing manufacturers offering very cheap prices on the units.

At home laser hair removal units typically consist of a body that houses a slot for beam generating part, a fan for cooling and a pointer that helps in directing the beam. The function of these units is exactly similar to the bigger units; they aim for hair roots and damage them to prevent hair growth. The upkeep costs will include regular maintenance and servicing charges along with the replacement cost of the laser unit. This unit can last up to two sessions after which it needs to be replaced. This is the only recurring cost of the home laser hair removal units and even that is not too much when compared to the professional charges. The real advantage with these units is the minimal side effects that they produce. Larger equipments are more powerful and need expert handling. Otherwise, they can cause damage and in fact do cause damage on a regular basis. The smaller home units are not as powerful and in fact, they are designed in that way to counter the lack of expertise of the users. The beam intensity is lesser and as a result, they do not cause severe side effects. The advantages of these home units far outweigh the disadvantages and they are definitely as effective as the bigger laser units.
